Hispanic people are so underrepresented in AI Safety community. I would love to support getting more Hispanic people involved.
[Final report]
I built and launched AI Safety Roster, a searchable directory that helps people find relevant people, organizations, and work across AI safety.
The directory grew from 754 people and 183 organizations to 1,768 people and 650 organization entries. Profiles…
I've followed Doom Debates and Liron since the beginning, so I believe that a) Doom Debates does fill a need for good discourse about AI risk and b) Liron can take the funding and continue executing.
[Progress update]
This update is late: Phase 2 finished on August 11 and a correction followed on August 21. Both are reported here for the first time.
The Phase 2 design posted on July 18 ran to completion: 22,140 judgments, 100% complete, $172.86 against a $173.80 projection. The original analysis was pinned before unblinding and run…
We need more ways to raise public awareness re: the risks of rogue ASI.
Mox is the community infrastructure that do-gooders in SF need. In particular, I want to recognize the superb career transition advising and EA SF events by Jen Ba!
It's a small world, I've worked with Gergo at Amplify, heard exciting things about SAIGE already, reside in Germany and found that I still have some funds on this platform, so donating a tiny amount to show my support.
Electric Sheep has already made a strong impact in the AIxAnimals space and created a strong presence in Bangalore as well as the international community, based on my past experience with members of the team I believe BASE will be no different and create wide and sustainable long term impact. BASE could have significant value for India and the wider South Asian region, where emerging AI talent…
Is the following accurate?
- You need $50k to be able to produce till the end of the year
- So far you've raised $37K in 2026
- So an additional $13K gets you to EOY
After that, you need $150K to get through 2027.
- How much do you make in subscription revenue?
- What happens if you don't hit the fundraising goal? Do you stop producing episodes?
As of August 2026 (the last time I updated this post), we needed $50k to make it to end of 2026. Since then, Daniel Brockman generously donated $50k, and we're keeping our same budget for the rest of 2026! The numbers in this post are now up to date as of Sep 3, 2026. Note that the total donation amount shown at the top of this Manifund page is cumulative since 2025, and doesn't include…
I am a big believer in Lawrence and the team at BASE. Their mission is very important to the future of AI safety and the broader community's ability to leverage talent, ideas, and viewpoints from under-represented and geographically diverse populations. Without greater inclusivity and this type of representation in AIS, I worry that the community will generate safety research and solutions…
Thanks for the endorsement guys @morisil @bitowaqr.
@Austin thanks for your acknowledgement via reactions ✨
As an AI researcher affiliated with the Foresight Institute I highly recommend a grant for this project.
Great work – much needed! Foresight Institute endorsement.
[Progress update]
Our first quarterly report is out: https://separatrix.ai/research/quarterly-report-2026-08-31/
To be frank a lot of the past two months has gone into logistics and spinning up, but I am proud of the progress we are making. I hope and expect to post more frequent updates this quarter.
@Anton Makiievskyi 🔸 Our first quarterly report is up: https://separatrix.ai/research/quarterly-report-2026-08-31/
I haven't been able to post updates as frequently as I would like so far but I'm hopeful about significantly accelerating the pace this quarter.
People don't understand capabilities so they can't prepare for harm. That needs to change.
@CJSmith I agree. I also think preparedness becomes much stronger when people can verify what AI systems actually did, not just understand what they're capable of. Better risk communication and better governance mechanisms should reinforce each other.
@CJSmith, I don't disagree with the premise. However, I'd say it still boils down to a lack of risk communication for public preparedness. Ideally, AI risk communication should be such that also provides transparent information regarding AI capabilities, since the capabilities form a part of the risk factors (although other elements such as misalignment would still need to be tied into the…
@Emmanuel-king, yes. Risk communication for public preparedness should not be isolated from other interventions and pursuits such as broader AI safety pursuits, AI governance, and even AI-related policymaking.
Austin from Manifund here -- we've received $20k from SFF as a speculation grant for Mox, which we've credited here.
(Austin from Manifund here.) We've received $10k from SFF as a speculation grant for this project of Richard's, which we at Manifund are fiscally sponsoring.
(Austin from Manifund here.) SFF recommended a $50k speculation grant for this project of Thane's, which Manifund is fiscally sponsoring.
Approved! Happy to support grantmaking.ai as always.
Hi all, update on this project: We released a preprint: Chain-of-Thought Faithfulness of Reasoning Models Varies with Where and How Preference Cues Are Delivered
TL;DR:
N.B.: Massive thanks to grantmaking.ai for the super quick turnaround! I recommended safety researchers around me to apply too!
An interesting project. I hope it gets funded :)
