AI Safety Map Anki Deck
About
The AI Safety Map Anki Deck is a freely available flashcard resource designed to help newcomers and practitioners quickly learn the landscape of the AI safety field. Created by Bryce Robertson and released in September 2023, the deck contains 167 cards covering the key organizations, projects, and programs active in AI safety at the time of publication. Each flashcard includes the full name of an entity, its commonly used acronym or nickname, a logo image, a short description of what the organization does, and a link to the organization's website for deeper reading. Robertson drew all content from the AI Existential Safety Map maintained by AED (Alignment Ecosystem Development), which runs aisafety.world and related resources. Robertson built the deck while a grantee of CEEALAR (Centre for Enabling EA Learning and Research), an EA-aligned residential research facility in the UK. George Vii provided testing and feedback before publication. The deck was announced on the EA Forum and LessWrong in late September 2023 and is hosted on AnkiWeb at ankiweb.net/shared/info/1103716634. Robertson acknowledged that descriptions on the cards are necessarily reductive given space constraints and encouraged users to follow the included website links for fuller information. At the time of publication he expressed interest in potentially creating a companion deck covering prominent individuals in AI safety, depending on community interest.
